Vintage Antatolian Kilim 11249 - 107" x 33" c. 1950

This Kilim is from the region of Malatya, south of Anatloia. 100% wool. 107" x 33" c.1950 On a recent buying trip to Europe we discovered a source of vintage kilims that truly stopped us in our tracks. We decided that they were not right for an entertaining/tabletop store so we chose to pass. But the image of the hand woven rugs in their vibrant vegetal colors, dramatic architectural paterns and modern feel kept us up all night. We had to buy them and bring back home to Hudson Grace. The kilims are circa 1930 -1980. The wools of the goats and sheep are hand worked in their ancestral techniques creating compositions that sometimes clash, sometimes very fine but ending in a harmonious piece of original graphic spontaneity, creating a useable one of a kind piece of art.
